R&D Engineer- Firmware

KeyDrill (www.keydrill.com) is a fast growing oil and gas drilling instrument manufacturing company seeking responsible and self-motivated R&D Engineer - Firmware. The qualified candidate should possess the following skill set:

Primary Duties

  • Research and develop cutting-edge software and system applications for multiple drilling sensors and controllers for drilling control using C with PIC micro-controller, and combined knowledge of electrical engineering, programming, and coding;
  • Use knowledge on electro-magnetic theory to implement telemetry modulation, transmission, receiving and decoding features in company's equipment;
  • Develop and code drilling software tools for controller PC by conducting adaptive tooling configuration with field test utilities for most common drilling sensors;
  • Collect and analyze drilling data from real-time logging and plotting using MFC and GDI object classes to produce user friendly images and using MS Database server for data and preferences storing/access;
  • Develop and research for company's firmware projects under the guidance of senior engineer with imbedded system design to help implement features of our downhole drilling equipment;
  • Simulate clients' field cases to identify problems with solutions using company's in-house device and software, and conduct tool roll-tests for real-time data acquisition for testing sensors' accuracy and product quality;
  • Provide technical support and basic training to customers on company's products;

Required Knowledge and Technologies

Knowledge and technologies involved: electrical engineering, Java, C++, C# programming, coding, digital signal processing, digital image processing, electromagnetic field and transmission theory, random signal analysis, wireless networks, advanced math and geometry, and electrical circuit analysis

Minimum Requirements

Master's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Computer Science with combined knowledge/technologies of electrical engineering, Java, C++, C# programming, coding, digital signal processing, electromagnetic field and transmission theory, digital image processing, random signal analysis, wireless networks, advanced math and geometry, and electrical circuit analysis.
